Orbbec’s robot-free data collection hardware platform debuts in Japan.

At ROSCon JP 2026, Orbbec made its official debut in the Japanese market by introducing its Robot-Free Data Collection Hardware Platform for Physical AI.

Orbbec is a global company that specialises in the development of full-stack 3D vision solutions within the fields of robotics and AI vision technology. The company serves over 5,000 customers in nearly 100 countries and territories, which are supported by its integrated R&D and manufacturing capabilities.

Orbbec is one of the few data collection platform providers that combines multi-sensor integration, calibration and synchronisation, a full-stack vision portfolio, and global mass-production and delivery capabilities, leveraging its robotics vision expertise and product breadth.

Covering Key Data Collection Needs

The platform is built on EGO, UMI, and WristCam, and it facilitates the acquisition of wrist-level near-field data, detailed hand-object interaction, and first-person observation. It can be configured based on the type of task, collector scale, and sensor combination.

At ROSCon JP, Orbbec showcased live output from its Dual-Ego prototype, which is equipped with dual 2-megapixel fisheye cameras. With a six-axis IMU that operates at up to 1,000 Hz, synchronisation accuracy within 1 ms, and a lightweight 200 g design, Dual-Ego captures aligned visual and motion data for mobile, first-person gathering.

In addition, the EGO RGB-D series, another core product series within the platform, enhances depth completeness for transparent, reflective, and other challenging objects by combining chip-level native depth output with LingBot-Depth enhancement.

Consistency at the Core

Orbbec facilitates the collection of high-quality data at a large scale by utilising four capabilities:

  • Accurate 3D alignment across RGB, depth, IMU, and other sensors.
  • High-precision multimodal calibration for spatial consistency.
  • Microsecond-level clock synchronisation and frame-level alignment: Hardware-level multi-device synchronised triggering for temporal consistency.
  • Million-unit production experience, digital quality management, and manufacturing capacity in China and Vietnam for product consistency:
  • Scaled manufacturing and global delivery.
  • Comprehensive product breadth and deep technology depth for flexible scenario customisation: A full-stack matrix that encompasses RGB, structuredlight, stereo vision, ToF, and LiDAR.

Orbbec has already formed robust partnerships with prominent Japanese corporations. Hitachi’s CO-URIBA “hands-free shopping” retail solution and an autonomous hospital logistics robot developed by one of Japan’s top three manufacturers are both supported by its 3D vision technologies.

“Japan has an advanced robotics industry and high standards for data quality and deployment,” said Felix Zheng, Managing Director, APAC Region at Orbbec. “We look forward to helping more customers scale real-world data collection efficiently.”
