direct flight connecting phu quoc and hong kong launched

Sun Phuquoc Airways officially inaugurated its direct flight between Phu Quoc and Hong Kong, China [May 22, 2026]. This achievement represents the airline’s third consecutive international route to be inaugurated in less than two months. It is a strategic asset that contributes to the establishment of a premium gateway between Phu Quoc and one of the busiest financial and commercial centres in Asia.

The airline transported nearly 200 of its inaugural international passengers from Hong Kong to Phu Quoc on the return voyage. This new route provides passengers with the flexibility to travel in both directions, with a frequency of five flights per week.

5 star experience

The airline is dedicated to providing a comprehensive 5-star experience that includes heated meals, standard checked baggage, a modern wireless In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system, premium privileges for Business Class, and access to the upscale Sun Executive Lounge.

The event’s importance was reinforced by a representative from Sun PhuQuoc Airways, who stated that Hong Kong (China) is a high-spending travel market with a strong demand for international vacations- which is an ideal match for Phu Quoc’s tourism profile. The inaugural flight not only establishes a new air link, but also brings Phu Quoc one step closer to becoming a new international tourism and aviation capital in the region.

The destination’s distinctive advantages serve to accentuate the appeal of this route. Vietnam’s 30-day visa-free policy for foreigners is transforming the island into a highly appealing “vacation paradise” for Hong Kong travellers. This is particularly noteworthy.

Airline Strategy

Additionally, Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ “experience corridor” strategy is demonstrating exceptional efficacy. Not only do international tourists receive exceptional in-flight services, but they can also seamlessly extend their voyage through a comprehensive ecosystem in the southern region of the island. This encompasses a collection of world-class 5-star resorts, the Sun World Hon Thom complex, the world’s longest three-wire cable car, and large-scale multimedia performances such as Symphony of the Sea and Kiss of the Sea. Passengers travelling with the airline will receive complimentary cable car tickets and discounts of up to 30% on accommodation, dining, and spa services throughout the Sun Group ecosystem in honour of the inauguration.

Broadening Reach

Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ impressive network expansion is exemplified by the rapid rollout of three international routes to Taipei, Seoul, and Hong Kong within a brief span. The airline intends to broaden its reach to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and India as part of its “Rise to the World” strategy, and in the future, it will pursue intercontinental routes to the Middle East and Europe. The carrier is gradually transforming its vision into actuality by assisting Phu Quoc in becoming the third international aviation gateway in Vietnam.
