New Pyro 5 4K wireless monitor adds three enhancements
Hollyland, a global manufacturer of professional wireless audio and video solutions, has officially introduced the Pyro 5 4K, the most recent update to their Pyro wireless transmission line. Building on Pyro 5, the new wireless monitor adds three important enhancements: end-to-end 4K30 wireless transmission, support for direct camera control on more camera models, and a new Image Overlay feature.

Professional productions have previously relied on separate wireless transmission systems and isolated field monitors, which necessitated additional equipment, wiring, and set-up time. The Pyro 5 4K is designed to be more than simply a monitor; it streamlines this workflow by merging several production tools into one compact solution, assisting filmmakers, broadcasters, and content creators in simplifying on-set setups and improving production efficiency.
Uncompromising Transmission Performance
The Pyro 5 4K’s key feature is end-to-end 4K30 wireless transmission across the Pyro ecosystem, which provides ultra-clear image quality for professional production processes. The monitor allows wireless video transmission, making it suitable for filmmaking, commercial production, live streaming, and multi-camera broadcasting.
The Pyro 5 4K is powered by Hollyland’s WiFiBroadcast technology, allowing for flexible wireless collaboration across the Pyro ecosystem. In Broadcast Mode, a single Pyro 5 4K may send video to up to four Pyro devices at the same time from a line of sight distance of up to 200 meters (656 feet). When Broadcast Mode is deactivated, it can connect with up to two Pyro devices and two HollyView App clients.
The Pyro 5 4K, like the Pyro 5 and Pyro 7, operates on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, allowing for greater wireless spectrum access. Smart Channel Selection examines available frequencies each time the monitor is turned on and automatically selects a clear channel. During use, Auto Frequency Hopping maintains a steady connection by switching to cleaner channels when interference is detected. For productions using many Pyro devices, manual channel selection allows crews to assign separate channels to each device, ensuring that each device remains on its own channel and reducing system channel conflicts.
More Than Just A Monitor
The Pyro 5 4K expands on its wireless transmission capabilities by combining transmitter, receiver, and monitor functions into a single 5.5-inch device, simplifying both camera-mounted and mobile monitoring configurations. The Pyro 5 4K is more than just a wireless display; it also allows for direct camera control and proxy recording.
The Direct Camera Control function allows operators to change camera settings from the touchscreen without returning to the camera. More Sony, Canon, and Nikon camera models are now supported with the expanded compatibility. The new Image Overlay option allows crews to accurately match framing using reference photographs, making it perfect for maintaining consistent compositions over several takes while reducing reshoots.
The monitor also has Proxy Recording capability, which saves proxy files directly to an SD card with embedded timecode for synchronised review, rough editing, and post-production collaboration.
The Pyro 5 4K features a 5.5-inch, 1,500-nit daylight-viewable display with professional monitoring options such as Waveform, False Colour, Focus Assist, Zebra Pattern, and 3D LUT. It also has HDMI IN, HDMI OUT, and SDI IN for signal input and output options.
The Pyro 5 4K strengthens the Pyro ecosystem’s wireless transmission capabilities. By combining 4K30 wireless workflows, intelligent monitoring, direct camera control, proxy recording, and live streaming in a single compact display, the new gadget provides filmmakers, broadcasters, and content creators with a more streamlined and flexible production solution from capture to delivery.
