HKTaxi becomes the first taxi-hailing partner of Google Maps in Hong Kong

Local taxi hailing app HKTaxi now enables passengers and visitors to preview fare estimates and to request a ride on Google Maps. After entering a pickup location and destination in Google Maps, riders can now estimate the fare before hailing a taxi. The fare estimation provided by HKTaxi is based on the estimated trip time and distance from origin to destination. All with a click.

The function provides a one-stop navigation and taxi hailing service where users can request a ride via HKTaxi after estimating the taxi fare on Google Maps. Users can easily check traffic conditions on Google Maps  – color codes of green, orange and red show the speed of traffic on the road. Users can then plan their rides and discuss route options with their taxi driver.

HKTaxi was founded in July 2013. The paltform has a driver accountability mechanism and a 24 hour customer hotline.HKTaxi currently has more than 60,000 registered drivers and has served more than 30 million orders. It is the most popular taxi-hailing app in Hong Kong – with 1.4 million downloads- and is available for free on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

HKTaxi has been pioneering different services, such as launching an English version for foreigners to connect with local drivers, introducing electronic payment for the taxi industry ( Mastercard payment has been introduced with some of the fleet) and, earning Taxi Dollars as cash rebate for every taxi ride etc.
