Hong Kong advances with legal AI innovation in Asia
LexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a top supplier of AI-powered analytics and decision tools worldwide, announced that Lexis+ AI with Protégé is now commercially available in Hong Kong [July 30, 2025]. This marks a significant turning point in the development of legal technology throughout Asia.
A Personalised Legal Assistant for the Hong Kong Market
Legal and business professionals may unlock new economic value with Lexis+ AI with Protégé, a personalised AI assistant that intelligently boosts productivity and drives next-level work quality. Protégé’s agentic AI capabilities, which were created responsibly with human oversight and, built with the highest security, compliance, and privacy standards, can do activities on its own based on user goals. This includes evaluating its own work and finding areas where it can enhance its output.
“At LexisNexis, we’re committed to driving better outcomes by unlocking new levels of efficiency and value in legal work to help our customers thrive,” said Michael Sit, Managing Director of LexisNexis Greater China. “Our goal is for every legal professional to benefit from a personalised AI assistant that enhances their daily work, and we’re proud to deliver that through our fully integrated, world-class AI platform.”
By utilising exclusive agentic and generative AI technology from LexisNexis, Lexis+ AI with Protégé can:
- Help users improve their argument by allowing them to upload and analyse transactional documents for quick, accurate, and efficient analysis.
- Pose queries or provide summaries of lengthy, intricate documents up to 300 pages or 1 million characters—a 250% increase over earlier processing limits.
- Use Draft Mode to draft comprehensive, customized transactional papers, litigation motions, briefs, and complaints. It then reviews its own work before submitting it to human legal experts for final approval. Documents can be exported to Microsoft Word or further altered immediately in Lexis+ AI.
- Using papers that have been submitted, create a graphical timeline of events.
- Provide follow-up prompts that are tailored to the lawyer’s workflow and make recommendations for legal workflow activities based on the kinds of documents uploaded (e.g., draft a legal memo, summarise, draft an argument).
- Offer timely support, proactively offering query improvements to help the user achieve their objectives effectively.
- Tens of thousands of legal documents can be safely uploaded and stored by users in Protégé Vault. Users can complete a variety of AI tasks on each Vault, including summarizing, drafting, analyzing, and more.
- create deposition questions based on witness descriptions, fact patterns, and other pertinent data.
Most of these features are currently available to customers, and more will be added in the upcoming months.
Transforming Legal Workflows
The Hong Kong launch establishes the region as a leader in legal AI innovation in Asia and comes after Protégé’s successful launch in the US earlier this year.
Each wave of AI innovation—extractive AI, which finds relevant results in data and offers deep insights; generative AI, which is capable of producing new content from data based on user-entered prompts or instructions; and now agentic AI, which can intelligently and independently perform tasks on a user’s behalf—is seamlessly integrated into the LexisNexis global technology platform.
